The Weare Giffard Community Orchard is a community-planted and managed apple orchard located by the riverside in the Park. The orchard was the brainchild of villager Keith Hughes. In 2015, thirty-six apple trees were planted by a large group of villagers, each sponsoring a tree. The orchard primarily features Devon varieties, including cider, eating, and cooking apples, chosen for their diverse growing habits based on their root stock.

Over the years, a dedicated group of subscribers and volunteers has maintained the orchard through monthly working parties. During the summer, grass cutting and path strimming occur every two weeks, and we’re always in need of more volunteersβ€”equipment is provided.
