WeAre Friends was formed from the former Weare Giffard & Landcross Women's Institute, which disbanded due to declining numbers. Our aim is to create a vibrant social community where members can pursue shared interests and warmly welcome newcomers.
We meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 2:30 pm in the music room at The Downes, where we enjoy a guest speaker and a relaxed afternoon with tea and cake, all for a £5 contribution. During the warmer months, we take the opportunity to explore places of interest across North Devon, with outing costs varying depending on the activity.
If you'd like to join us and see what we're about, please contact Daphne Horton at 01237 479606 or email tisdaphneh@gmail.com

Weare Giffard Walkers is a friendly group of seasoned walkers who meet on the first Wednesday of each month to explore the beautiful Devon countryside.
Our walks are between 4 and 6 miles, taken at a relaxed pace to enjoy the surroundings. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome to join us.
Each walk is carefully planned and checked by our walk leader beforehand to ensure the paths are clear and manageable, and to identify any obstacles or overgrowth.
Join us to discover hidden gems of Devon you never knew existed!

The Weare Giffard Oral History Project is an initiative dedicated to preserving the rich memories of long-term residents for the benefit of future generations. We invite residents to share their stories and reflections on life in Weare Giffard, exploring themes such as childhood, schooling, work, social life, housing, and the changes they have seen in the village over the years.
These informal recordings are designed to be relaxed and enjoyable, taking place in the comfort of your home or at another location of your choice. The project ensures a respectful approach, focusing on general aspects of village life without delving into private or personal matters.
Supported by the Weare Giffard Parish Council, this project offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the preservation of the village's heritage.
If you’d like to get involved with this project, please contact Keith Hughes at 01237 475 168
